چکیده
abstract background: leachate produced by waste disposal sites can be contaminating groundwater. the contamination vulnerability and groundwater protection assessment has proved to be an effective tool for the delineation of protection zones in area affected by groundwater contamination. the main objective of the study is to evaluate aquifer pollution vulnerability in the new waste disposal site leachate isfahan city using drastic model combine with gis. materials and methods: in order to conduct research seven hydro-geological factors consist of depth of water, net recharge, aquifer media, soil media, topography, impact of vadose zone and hydraulic conductivity are incorporated into drastic model and the arcgis 9.3 were used to create a groundwater vulnerability map by overlaying the available hydro-geological data results: the study shows that the drastic scores obtained from the model vary from 115, 126, 130 and the contamination of aquifer potential by landfill leachates is medium. conclusions: the drastic method is valuable to assess the potential contamination of groundwater by leachate from the landfill site. gis is a useful tool for local authorities are responsible for municipal solid waste disposal management

Aquifer Vulnerability Assessment for Sustainable Groundwater Management Using DRASTIC
Groundwater management and protection has been facilitated by computational modeling of aquifer vulnerability and monitoring aquifers using groundwater sampling. The DRASTIC (Depth to water, Recharge, Aquifer media, Soil media, Topography, Impact of vadose zone media, and hydraulic Conductivity) model, an overlay and index GIS model, has been used for groundwater quality assessment because it r...
متن کاملSaltwater intrusion vulnerability assessment using AHP-GALDIT model in Kashan plain aquifer as critical aquifer in a semi-arid region
Owing to population growth and water demand, coastal aquifers all over the world are over–pumped, resulting in serious problems such as saltwater intrusion. So, in these conditions, assessing the groundwater system’s vulnerability and finding areas with saltwater intrusion potential are vital for the better management of aquifers. In this study, AHP-GALDIT was applied to saltwater intrusion vul...
متن کاملDetermination of vulnerability of aquifer Ardebil using DRASTIC method in GIS
Background and Objective: Groundwater resources are the most valuable resources of each country. Development of agricultural activities in Ardabil plain and over-use of fertilizers and pesticides, improper disposal of municipal sewage and industrial areas are responsible for groundwater pollution. Clean-up of groundwater resources is very difficult and expensive. One of suitable method in preve...
متن کاملProviding DRASTIC maps to assess potential vulnerability in Kohnak aquifer using GIS
Nowadays the study of regional groundwater resources, because of draught ,their optimal exploitation, and reducing their pollution is a vital matter. A proper way to prevent the pollution of undergroundwaters is to locate vulnerable spots and to conduct an efficient exploitation of the ground. Using thepresent models is very essential to locate and study about vulnerable spots. For this study, G...
متن کاملassessment of meymeh plain aquifer vulnerability in esfahan using comparative method avi, gods, drastic
introduction one of the most vulnerable water resources against contamination is ground water table. these resources are exposed to contamination in various forms. identifying and controlling contamination in these resources are more difficult and costly than surface waters. also because of the persistence of contamination in these resources, the best way to prevent their contamination is to id...
متن کاملA GIS based DRASTIC model for assessing groundwater vulnerability in shallow aquifer in Aligarh, India
Surface water quality can be determined by hydrological responses that vary geographically. The sub-surface hydrologic environment, however, has a primary influence on groundwater movement and hence pollutant migration to the subsurface water. Maps of aquifer vulnerability to pollution are becoming more in demand because on the one hand groundwater represents the main source of drinking water, ...
